New Teas for your enjoyment!

Hi tea fans! We're happy to announce the long-awaited arrival of our highest grade peppermint and rooibos to the website, alongside a beautiful Earl Grey and a luxurious Darjeeling. These teas may be familiar to you already and we have tried especially hard to find batches that excelled.

Also, we have recently received the final cut of Nuarts documentary of the Gandolfi Pop-up Bar which we were involved in a couple of months ago... enjoy!

Site Online!

Well, we have been online now for just over a week and are kept busy every day with fine tuning and, of course, filling our first orders via the site. Exciting times! We have also just received delivery of our glass teawares! This is the result of a long deliberation on how to best serve and present teas of this quality. We feel that we have met all the criteria: the teapots hold about  cup of tea which means that at no time will the tea continue to infuse after the prescribed time; also, the drinker can enjoy watching the leaves unfurl while they enjoy the brew in an insulated glass bowl. Check out the site for our competitive rates!

Welcome!

Welcome to my first ever blog. I apologise for the spelling - I'm still a two-finger typist after all these years. I live in Glasgow and I'm starting a tea website. For the last year or so, my partner and I have been putting together a collection of the highest quality leaf teas available to us. Unfortunately, we have a fairly modest budget to start us off which rules out any exotic trips to Asia, but we have nonetheless managed to create what we feel is a representation of the very best.

I have loved tea for years. My parents always bought loose-leaf Assams and Darjeelings when I was growing up. After that I bought Chinese greens and oolongs in Europe where I have family. The thing about tea is, the more you taste, the more you realise no one cup is the same. It's like wine: every vintage, every garden, every climactic difference affect the aroma and flavour of the drink. Then there are the centuries of accumulated expertise involved in harvesting, fermenting, drying and rolling the leaves.

Finally there's connoisseurship. I'd like to point out here that although I'm a huge fan, the more I pry and probe, the more I realise that I'm unlikely to ever really come to terms with the sheer variety and volume of tea out there. But the fact that medieval monks and scholars in Asia dedicated lifetimes to the study of this plant leaves hope for me! I believe that with tea, everyone can access the source. It is affordable and becoming more available than ever. It has health giving properties and with so many varieties, it never gets boring!
